Unbox & connect
Use the original USB cable. Plug your Trezor into your computer or phone. Never use a third-party cable or adapter.
There’s no username or password to remember. Learn how to connect your hardware wallet, open Trezor Suite, and keep every step in your control.
It’s not like signing in to an exchange. Your Trezor device is the key.
There is no traditional username and password. “Logging in” means connecting your hardware wallet to the Trezor Suite app (desktop or web) and entering your PIN on the device. The device proves you hold the keys without exposing them to your computer or browser.
To access your wallet, connect your Trezor, unlock it with your PIN, and—if you use one—enter your passphrase through the device’s supported flow. That’s self-custody: you stay in control of your keys.
Any website, email, support agent, or pop-up asking for your 12-, 18-, or 24-word recovery seed is a scam. Only enter a backup directly on the Trezor device during recovery. This is an independent educational resource, not an official SatoshiLabs guide.
Take it one step at a time. Confirm important prompts on your device.
Use the original USB cable. Plug your Trezor into your computer or phone. Never use a third-party cable or adapter.
Get the app from trezor.io/start or open the web app at suite.trezor.io. Check the address before you continue.
A new device may ask you to install firmware. Review the prompt and confirm directly on the device screen.
Choose to create a wallet or recover one. If shown, write your recovery backup on paper—never in a file or online.
Choose a strong PIN using the Trezor device. You’ll use it to unlock your wallet each time.
After your device is unlocked, view your portfolio, manage accounts, and explore send, receive, and settings.
A few habits make a meaningful difference to your security.
A passphrase creates access to a distinct hidden wallet. If you forget it, that wallet cannot be recovered from your seed alone. Store it securely and separately.

Start with these common checks. Never share your recovery backup to troubleshoot.
Try a different USB port or a known-good cable. On Windows, Trezor Suite generally handles connectivity; some browser setups may use WebUSB in Chrome or Edge. If the device shows “Connect” but Suite doesn’t see it, restart Suite and reconnect. Use official support resources if it persists.
You may need to wipe the device and restore access with your recovery backup, then set a new PIN. Make sure your backup is available and legible before taking any action. Follow your device’s official recovery instructions.
A passphrase cannot be reset or recovered. Without the exact passphrase, its hidden wallet remains inaccessible. Keep passphrases secure and separate from your recovery backup.
Clear answers to common questions about accessing your wallet.
You can open Trezor Suite in a browser at suite.trezor.io. It communicates with your connected device locally; private keys remain on the hardware wallet. For an additional layer of privacy, consider the desktop app.
You need your Trezor to unlock your wallet and approve transactions. Some wallet information may be viewable in watch-only mode, but sending or signing requires the device.
If you have your recovery backup, you can restore your wallet on a replacement Trezor or another compatible wallet. Your assets are recorded on the blockchain, not stored on the device itself. Protect your backup carefully.
Common backup formats use 12, 18, or 24 words. Trezor devices may also support Shamir backup (SLIP39), which uses groups of 20-word shares. Follow the format and instructions provided for your device.
